Electric Moped Battery Safety

Electric moped batteries must be handled, charged and stored correctly.

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and any battery-safety guidance provided by Ride Today.

Use the correct charger

Only use a charger approved for your battery.

Do not use damaged chargers, cables or batteries, and do not modify the charging equipment.

If the equipment appears damaged, stop using it and contact Ride Today.

Charge your battery safely

Follow the manufacturer's instructions and current fire-safety guidance.

  • Charge in an appropriate location.
  • Keep batteries away from excessive heat.
  • Avoid charging near combustible materials.
  • Do not cover the battery or charger in a way that could cause overheating.
  • Do not block escape routes with charging equipment.
  • Follow the instructions for your particular battery and charger.

Inspect your battery

Do not use a battery that appears swollen, cracked, punctured, leaking or unusually hot.

Pay attention to unusual smells, unexpected noises or other signs of damage.

Never attempt to open or repair a damaged battery yourself.

Store your battery correctly

Follow the supplied storage and security instructions, including the requirements in your hire agreement.

Keep batteries secure and away from excessive heat, water and potential physical damage.

Do not assume that every battery can be stored or charged in the same way.

What if a battery overheats or catches fire?

If you notice smoke, fire or immediate danger:

  1. Move away from the danger.
  2. Warn others and keep them away.
  3. Call 999.
  4. Follow the instructions of the emergency services.

Do not put yourself at risk by attempting to move or handle a dangerous battery.

If a battery appears damaged but is not actively burning, stop using it and seek appropriate guidance.
