Getting Started with the Zero LS1

Welcome to your Zero LS1. It has a stated range of up to 100 miles and a top speed of 55 mph. Actual range depends on riding conditions, speed, load, battery condition and route.

Before you set off

Confirm your documents

Make sure your application and collection process are complete and that you meet the applicable licensing requirements.

Wear suitable safety equipment

Use a suitable, correctly fitting helmet and appropriate clothing.

Learn the controls

Familiarise yourself with the controls and operation of your specific vehicle using the instructions supplied with it.

Check the vehicle

Inspect the tyres, brakes and general condition. Don’t ride if anything appears unsafe.

Check your battery

Confirm that you have enough charge for the journey you’re planning.

Take time to learn the vehicle

If you’re new to electric mopeds, don’t rush straight into busy traffic. Spend time understanding the controls and handling in a suitable, safe environment before riding on public roads. Keep a safe following distance, remain visible and anticipate what other road users might do.

Plan your battery use

The range you get from a charge depends on how and where you ride. Before a longer journey or delivery shift, consider:

  • Your planned distance.
  • Traffic and stop-start riding.
  • Your expected battery consumption.
  • Whether you have access to an approved battery-swapping arrangement or additional battery.
  • Where you’ll be able to charge or exchange a battery if needed.

Don’t assume every battery option is included in your subscription. Check the arrangements agreed for your vehicle.

Keep your moped in good condition

  • Check the tyres and brakes regularly.
  • Keep the vehicle secure.
  • Follow battery-safety guidance.
  • Attend required servicing appointments.
  • Report damage, faults or unusual behaviour promptly.

Servicing is included in the subscription arrangements, but you must book and attend the required appointments. Your hire agreement sets out the applicable requirements.

If you notice a fault

Stop somewhere safe if you notice an unusual noise, warning light, loss of performance or other problem. If you believe the vehicle is unsafe, don’t continue riding. Contact Ride Today for guidance and follow the reporting process in your hire agreement.
